
Baichung Bhutia, Renedy Singh lead respective teams
Dimapur, March 11: Advisor to Department of Power, H Tovihoto Ayemi graced the football friendly match played between Baichung Bhutia and Renedy Singh led USFC XI and WSSA XI at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on March 11.
Speaking as the special guest, Tovihoto congratulated the Western Sumi Sports Association for taking the initiative to promote football at the grassroot level in Nagaland with support from former Indian football captains, Baichung and Renedy and extended appreciation to the two former players for having concern for Nagaland and coming forward to render their valuable support to train the budding talents of the state.
He said football has brought together people from all over the world regardless of their age, gender or ethnicity, to inspire and unite everyone and similarly, it has brought the people of sister states of north eastern region in the age-old spirit of brotherhood and unity for a cause.
He pointed that sustainable development not only needs good political governance but also need platforms such as the event of Friday that bring people together for a common goal and was of the view that raining young boys and girls to be professional players will impact the society in multi-dimensional ways.
He was convinced that joint effort of WSSA and USFC will definitely produce footballers like late Dr. T Ao, the legendary Naga football player and the likes of Baichung, Renedy and many others who have made the region and the nation proud through this sport.
