Tongpang seeks fund for  improvement of State roads

Dimapur, July 18: Nagaland PWD Minister, Tongpang Ozukum has sought funds from the Centre for improvement and up-gradation of roads in the State.
In a meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari at Transport Bhawan, New Delhi on Tuesday, the Minister said the roads in Nagaland are in deplorable condition and sought his intervention for improvement and up-gradation of roads in the State. He also drew attention of the Union Minister towards the urgent need for rehabilitation of old and weak bridges in the State.
The Minister and his team also reminded the Union Minister about the construction of 2-lane Trans Nagaland Highway (Foothill Road) to be taken up on phase manner, which was earlier appraised by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y.Patton to the Prime Minister and the concerned Minister in-charge of MoRTH.
The Union Minister after patiently hearing the grievances shared by the Minister and his colleagues responded positively that the ministry is willing to extend all help but strongly sounded that land should be available and there should not be any hindrance to developmental activities. He also advised that acquisition of land should be the look out of the State Government.
The Minister’s team includes Temjen Imna Along, Minister; H Khehovi Yepthomi, Advisor and Chingwang Konyak, chairman, People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA). (Page News Service)
