Tokhu Emong Mini Hornbill festival begins

Dimapur, November 5: MLA, Dr Chumben Murry today inaugurated the three days Tokhu Emong-cum-Mini Hornbill festival at Wokha local ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Chumben Murry said Wokha district is blessed with so many resources and has been considered the ‘Land of Plenty’, and urged the people to make proper use of the resources available as the district has the potential to produce maximum produces which will automatically raise the economic standard of the district in particular and the State in general.
The MLA also stated that Nagas are at a most crucial juncture vis-à-vis the Naga issue and urged the Lotha Hoho to spearhead a Lotha movement “because the desire for settlement must become a mass movement.”
Stating ‘enjoyment is a part of human wellbeing’, Murry said, “If we celebrate Tokhu Emong in earnest flesh and spirit re-living our culture and traditions and imbibing the richness of our culture and traditions, in songs and dances of our ancestors in friendship, forgiveness and thanksgiving, then we will see the essence of the festival and find yourself rejuvenating.”
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS in his welcome adders said the Government of Nagaland has decided to celebrate tribal  festival in the form of Tokhu Emong cum Mini Hornbill with the intention to promote the culture of the State as well as tourism industry.
The celebration of any festival it gives us an opportunity to refresh our minds and to rededicate yourself towards the greater good of society. The message of Tokhu Emong seems more relevant than ever where it teaches us to give thanks to almighty for the success which he has granted to us for our hard work we have put in, he added.
Later indigenous games competitions like spear throw, tug of war, yodelling, top spinning, basket weaving and catapult was also held which was declared by the special guest Dr Chumben Murry. In the evening Tokhu Beat contest was also held with PHED, Chief Engineer Er Ghushito Sema as the special guest.
Meanwhile on the sideline of Tokhu Emong cum Mini Hornbill, the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland in technical association with Emporium Skill Training Institute, registered under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is currently registering unemployed eligible youths for government sponsored free of cost skill development training program in international/domestic aviation, five star hospitality/hotel management & luxury international cruise line management.
Emporium is currently training Naga youths in its skill training centre at Nagarjan, Dimapur. 220 trainees are trained and placed every quarter.
The registrations for the upcoming batch in January, 2019 is currently going on at the
Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship – Emporium stall, public ground, Wokha, Tokhu Emong Festival. Training fee is totally free of cost and the same is borne by the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna.
