Dimapur, September 27: An enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products was carried out under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Mon on September 25 at Mon town. The team was led by E Nyeamying Konyak, District Consultant NTCP-Mon and Dobashis from the District administration.
The drive was conducted with an initiative to make Mon headquarter tobacco free and also as a precautionary measure towards spreading coronavirus in the community as people consuming tobacco products tend to spit in public places creating risk for the spread of deadly virus.
Around 25 shops were found selling tobacco products in Mon town, most of which were small retail shops. The seized products were burnt in the outskirt area of the town.
The team said it will continue to conduct such enforcement drive all over the districts. (Page News Service)
