Dimapur, May 12 : The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), local branch Kohima organised International Nurses Day under the theme, “Nurses a voice to lead : Nursing the world to health” today at Lobby Hall, Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.
As the world is observing the International Nurses Day today worldwide in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Nurses of Naga Hospital held a short lamp lighting ceremony.
Rita Angami, President TNAI, local branch, Kohima said that this Nurses Day could not be celebrated in a grant manner like the other years, due to Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s Nurses Day is very special because it is the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and the World Health Organization has designated the year 2020 as the year of nurses and midwife, said Rita.
Rita Angami also urged all the nurses to unite even during this unfortunate situation and work with sincerity while dealing with peoples’ life. Being a nurse is a noble profession because it demands tireless contribution, dedication and an extraordinary amount of compassion and selflessness.
The lamp was lighted by Nothusanu, Nursing Superintendent, NHAK. Invocation prayer was led by Vikepu Tepa, chaplain, NHAK.
The TNAI, local branch Kohima also visited the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, Dimapur road and Cradle Ridge Hospic, Kohima. They distributed rice and other essential items to the home. (Page News Service)
