Dimapur, January 22: A team of butchers and piggery farmers under Pughoboto Sub-Division led by PS to MLA Vikheto Swu reached Guwahati on January 21 as part of Thuwun-ni exposure trip which is being organized with the initiative of MLA and SDPDB Pughoboto chairman, Y.Vikheho Swu.
The entrepreneurs were taken to poultry processing plant, Assam, the livestock and Poultry Cooperation Ltd. Khanapara, Guwahati funded by Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Government of India, Government of Assam & NABARD.
The main aim of their visit was to see and learn meat business which can be transformed from subsistence to sustainable and profitable economic venture. They also interacted with the officials and how they cut the meat and keep some portions like liver, spleen, intestine etc. The official also explained how they stock the meat in the blast freezer and measure the weight.
During their visit to the plant, Dr. Ruhul Amin Sheikh and officials demonstrated how to wear hand gloves, rubber boots and to take foot dip with 250 PPM Sodium Hypochlorite solution before entering the plant area. The butchers also visited the laboratory to see how chemicals are being used in the poultry.
Dr. Nilamber Thakuria while advising the butchers said that animals should be slaughtered in scientific method and should be clean enough for human consumption. He cautioned the butchers to stop slaughtering animals with infected diseases.
Out of the 35 team members, 25 butchers are from Mishilumi village. The team is accompanied by Arong Jamir under Deputy CVO Zuhuneboto and APRO Pughoboto, Mhathung Ngullie.
