DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 4: Tetso College, Dimapur on Friday celebrated its 25th anniversary in the presence of Advisor for Technical Education and Elections Medo Yhokha who also happens to be an alumnus of the college.
Due to the pandemic, the silver jubilee programme, however, was conducted with only a few participants while others joined the observance online via YouTube and Google Meet.
Speaking on the occasion, Yhokha, who was speaking on behalf of the special guest CM Neiphiu Rio as he could not become part of the programme, said that today the educational intuitions need to be in tune with the changing time and students should be provided opportunities to prepare themselves for life.
Congratulating the founders, faculty members and teachers for nurturing and enabling the students as well as the college and reaching the milestone, Yhokha commented that college degrees in the present time have become a critical requirement and earning a degree from an accredited institution gives the students an identity and lays down a strong foundation that impacts the society.
He also appreciated Tetso College for taking initiatives in researches and innovations, which, according to him, make the college stand out from the rest of the institutions and it helps the students to define their academic career, personal interest, and expand knowledge of their chosen field. He assured that the government is ready to extend help to students towards their academic aspirations and researches.
He mentioned that the activities practiced by the college that goes beyond the academics enable the students to share their views and comment on different issues as well as give opportunities to shape their skills and added that such practices would mould and shape the individuals to become leaders as these are the primary tools to be successful in life.
Commenting that it is his role to create suitable platforms to enable each person to participate in nation building to bring desired changes, Yhokha appealed to the students to give their best in every field and challenged the students to create positive impacts in the world and empower people towards lifelong excellence.
Earlier, Dr. P.S. Lorin, founding Principal of the college, in his address had said that Tetso College came into being in the year 1994 to give the best to our society and the memories of ups and downs and the achievements still linger. He also mentioned that till today more than 2000 people have graduated from the college.
Calling it a day to reflect on everything that happened since its inception, Dr. Lorin said that the moments of deep reflection, sweat and tears, despair, hope, triumph and immense joy they shared over the years made the College where it stands today.
During the programme, Dr. P.S. Lorin and Shasinle Lorin also unveiled the Jubilee Foundation Stone and a pre-recorded video was streamed where the alumni of the college shared their messages congratulating the college on its 25th anniversary.
