Dimapur, July 15: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Shree Jaganath Temple and Lakshman School at Narep Timung Goan, Khatkati in presence of Dr Numal Monin, MLA, Bokajan.
In his address, the Governor stated that temples are a place to create a better man and a better person. “It is a place where we all bow down our head and feel that we are part and parcel of one society,” he said.
Stressing on unity in diversity, he said peaceful coexistence of different religion is the speciality of India. “Our great country was invaded by invaders like Mughals & British because our motherland was rich and prosperous. They conquered us and made us slaves because we were divided on the basis of language, cast and creed. Let Temple give us strength to stand united,” he said.
The Governor also urged all to be proud of our mother tongue, saying “our first identity is our mother tongue.”
Calling upon achievers to be givers, he added, “We should give back to our society to strengthen the society and Nation. We have the potentiality to become a superpower in the world.”
Dr Numal Momin, MLA, Bokajan also addressed the gathering. The function was marked by cultural songs, dances, etc.
