Technical education will transform the  outlook of Nagaland: Minister Along

Kohima, August 21: Nagaland Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along today said that technical education will transform the outlook of Nagaland.
Stating that if one has to shine things he/she has to redefine the ideas, transform the thoughts, he said “Today we talk about many things, our rights, wants but if our wants and need cannot be completed with your technical knowledge of living this state to the forefront of this nation in technology then we will still be impoverished, then we will still be small”.
Addressing the inaugural function of the three day long first Naga Tech fest under the theme “Redefining ideas” organised by the department of technical education and hosted by Government Polytechnic Kohima here at Indira Gandhi Stadium today, Along urged the students to make the best use of their talents and ability and “prove yourself that we Naga also have the best technicians.”
“It is time you bloom, redefine your technological ideas,” he said and stressed on the need to put new ideas into proper system.
“It is time for us to improve it to its greatest heights,” he said and assured that the government will recognize capabilities of the youth.
“We can have better conditions of living because of your efforts,” he said.
“We need to dream and aspire to export our talents to the rest of the country and world and it is not impossible,” he said.
He said that out of 80 plus departments in the state, technical education department consist of some of the brilliant minds and one of the most techno savvy, students and the technical engineering and non-technical people work together for the brighter future of the state and the nation at large.
He urged the students to redefine their ideas, transform and start to think differently and work hard towards brighter future.
The minister was optimistic that one day the students will be the best in the forefront of the Nation “even though you are deprived of the many requirements that you needed.”
He said the needs of your requirements should not suppress you from defining and redefining your ideas.
On constructions, he said “I am sure the house that was built before, the roads and all will last not like before.”
He wanted the students to come with better technologies.
“I am sure that one day you will be the innovators. We need to dream and aspire to export our talents to the rest of country and world. Your dreams should come with lots of responsibility.”
He called upon the students to give their plans, talents and ideas “that will come into use in our daily life of our Naga people in particular and our country in general.”
He urged the students to put their minds to make life easier, more smoother for the betterment of the state.
Toshi Wungthung, Advisor IPR, SCERT & village guards said that the tech festival is a very challenging for students and the younger generation at large.
He was optimistic that the fest will inspire the students to innovate and work together for a brighter future.
Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, OSD and convenor Planning Committee said that Naga fest is an endeavour to encourage and inspire the technical institutes in Nagaland to think big and go beyond boundaries, inspire young minds to do big, to create a platform where innovative ideas are shared, to provide a platform to technical students to actualize their innovation skills etc.
It is also aimed at providing opportunities for the students to display a positive engagement in social events as such, demonstrate teamwork and also to promote skill development amongst the students.
Among others, the fest will be marked by gaming, robotics, debate, quiz, web designing, bridge designing, photography, paper presentation and project model presentation.
Er. Lhoungu said that prize money of more than Rs. 3 lakh will be awarded to the students.
He said that events for competition will take place simultaneously in different locations at GPK from August 22.
On day 2 (August 22), Imnatiba, advisor Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill development & Entrepreneurship will be the special guest while NEPeD chairman Kevechutso Doulo will be the special guest for August 23. (Page News Service)
