Team Mystic Ballers win 11th Open Basketball Tournamenta

Kohima, May 19: Team Mystic Ballers have lifted the champion’s title of the 11th Open Basketball Tournament organized by Suncity Club Kohima in collaboration with Nagaland Basketball Association at local ground here.
Playing an exciting final match of the tourney amidst jam packed fans, Team Mystic Ballers humbled Team Orca 72-60 to lift the title and walk away with casr prize of Rs 60,000 with trophy and citation.
Runners-up Team Orca got Rs. 30,000 with trophy and citation while losing semi-finalists – last year’s champ Stallions and Amplified received Rs 10,000 each.
The most valuable player of the tournament with award of Rs 10,000 and citation went to Kevin Tale of Team Orca.
Gracing the valedictory function as the special guest, Administrator of Kohima Municipal Council, Kovi Meyase gave away the prizes to the winners.
In his address, Meyase encouraged the players saying that sports is not only a physical but also help in the mental alertness and also facilitates understanding among the players. Overall sports help in making a better human being, he said. Sport is the biggest and popular industry in the world, because it provides us employability, he said.
Meanwhile, Meyase announced that as part of the Kohima Smart City sports infrastructure development project two modern basketball courts would be constructed in the Old Secretariat area.
