No jeans, leggings: Assam’s new dress code for state-run school teachers

Meghalaya has more schools, teachers than other NE states: CM

Shillong, May 16: Meghalaya has close to 14,000 schools and over 55,000 teachers, significantly higher than other small states in the Northeast region, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on Tuesday. The state incurs an annual expenditure of almost Rs 2,200 crore for these institutions, the chief minister said while addressing the centenary celebration of Jaiaw Presbyterian Higher Secondary School here. Assam to abolish 8000 vacant posts of school teachers

Guwahati, November 8: The Assam government on Tuesday said it will abolish 8,000 vacant posts of school teachers under the education department as a larger number of contractual educators are already working under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA). Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the state government in 2020 had offered a regular pay scale and other benefits to 11,206 contractual teachers working under the SSA in lower primary and upper primary schools.
