Assam: carcass of male rhino found in Kaziranga

Kaziranga, March 23: The carcass of a male rhino, suspected to be killed in infighting, was found in Assam's famed Kaziranga National Park on Saturday, an official said. The carcass of the rhino with severe facial injury marks and deep wounds was found on the western side of the Tunikati anti-poaching camp in the Burapahar range of the park. Poachers involved in Assam Rhino’s killing arrested, horn recovered

Guwahati, January 27: Police have arrested "poachers" involved in the recent killing of a rhino in Assam's Kaziranga National Park, a senior official said on Saturday. The pachyderm's horn has also been recovered, Director General of Police (DGP) G P Singh said. A team led by Superintendent of Police of Golaghat district made the arrests, he said. Rhino population in Assam’s Orang National Park increases by 24, total at 125

Guwahati, March 22: The population of one-horned rhinoceros has increased by 24 over the last four years in Assam's Orang National Park, a forest official said. The rhino count now stands at 125 after the two-day census in the park which concluded on Monday, the official said. The previous rhino population estimation was done in 2018, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mangaldai Division, Pradipta Baruah said.
