Villagers attack police team in Assam’s Kamrup district

Rangia, November 5: Four police personnel were injured in an attack by villagers in Assam's Kamrup district when they had gone there to arrest a person accused of theft, police said on Sunday. A police vehicle was also damaged when the villagers of Baruajani attacked it on Saturday night to prevent the personnel from arresting a local youth on theft charges, they said. Get fit in 3 months or retire: Assam top cop on plan to remove “deadwood”

New Delhi, May 16: The Assam Police will professionally record the Body Mass Index (BMI) of all its personnel, including IPS officers, in a drive to eventually get rid of "deadwood" from the police force. Cops will be given three months to work on their fitness, after which BMIs will be recorded. Assam Police neutralises newly-formed militant group

Guwahati, November 17: The Assam Police has neutralised the recently-formed militant Adivasi People's Liberation Army (APLA), a top official said on Thursday.
