GUWAHATI, MARCH 21: At least 3 earthquakes struck the Northeastern region's Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. According to the National Centre for Seismology website, the first jolt struck at 1.49 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.7, and the epicentre of the quake was Wast Kameng of Arunachal Pradesh with a depth of 10 km. Furthermore, the second quake occurred at around 3.40 a.m. with 3.4 magnitudes and a depth of 5 km, and the epicentre was in East Kameng district. (Courtesy: AT)...

New findings by Indian scientists could help predict earthquakes better

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 24: A new study published by Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) has demonstrated that the ionospheric disturbances generated even by moderate-sized earthquakes under magnitude 8 may show intricate rupture signals across multiple fault segments, instead of just from a single point near the epicenter of the quake. The finding could be used to predict earthquakes even before they occur. Scientists from the analyzed data from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) tracking networks to model the coseismic ionospheric perturbations (CIP) triggered by the twin February 2023 Turkey quakes...
