T R Zeliang visits CHC Jalukie

T.R. Zeliang interacts with medical staff at Jalukie 1Dimapur, April 20: Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang today visited the designated COVID-19 Hospital at Jalukie and the District Hospital at Peren, and hold review meeting with the District administration headed by DC and SP Peren along with officials from the CMO and F&CS and representatives from civil societies and NGOs at Peren town.
A release issued by the information & publicity wing of the opposition leader’s office said the designated COVID19 hospital at Jalukie is far from being ‘well-prepared’ to treat positive cases. From zero ventilators to non-existent ICU to poor quality of PPEs, the reality is nothing close to the claims made by the Government, it alleged.
“What is appalling is that, the so called PPEs made available to the Doctors and Nurses in the Hospital comes under the label ‘HIV KIT’. Is this the same made available to other hospitals in the State? Is this the standard PPE to be used to treat COVID19 symptomatic patients? Or will the Doctors and Nurses risk it as there aren’t any made available,” the release asked.
Zeliang called upon the Government not to give out step-motherly treatments to certain districts but rather take up the fight against COVID-19 with no ism and political colour. He assured that the Opposition party will continue to render unceasing support and for which the State Government is expected to take into consideration the positive suggestions that comes from every angle to work together as one.
No political party is immune to the virus and as such, a concerted effort is the need of the hour. Only then can there be progress in breaking the chain of this dreaded virus, he said.
Zeliang also interacted with the apex tribal bodies and NGOs who are tirelessly assisting and helping the Government agencies in keeping vigil during this challenging times.
