Sumi Hoho urges Governor to keep delimitation process in abeyance

Dimapur, May 29: The Sumi Hoho has urged Governor of Nagaland to hold up the delimitation exercise in Nagaland till final the solution to Indo-Naga political problem is arrived at.
In a representation to the Governor, Sumi Hoho president, Hekhuashe Shikhu and general secretary, I Nikheto Jimomi stated that with the political talks between the Government of India and various Naga political parties being seriously deliberated and rapidly progressing, the entire Naga people are eagerly awaiting for final honourable and acceptable solution.
It said one of the major demands by the negotiating parties is increase of legislature assembly seats, of which, if the Government of India consents, rearrangement of the present constituencies have to be carried out.
The Hoho said Nagas are quite optimistic of the outcome and highly expect that the final honourable and acceptable solution is about to be arrived at soon.
It said the Government’s decision to carry out delimitation exercise in Nagaland along with some other states contradicts the expectations of the Nagas.
Keeping in view of the anticipated favourable outcome of the Indo-Naga peace talks, the Sumi Hoho urged the Governor to keep the delimitation process in abeyance as of now and ensure the conclusion of Naga Political talks at the earliest. (Page News Service)
