DIMAPUR, MAY 10: As the COVID-19 situation in Nagaland is spiralling out of control, the Sumi Hoho (SH) has urged the Government of Nagaland to immediately impose complete lockdown in the State for a period of at least 10 days in order to break the chain of community transmission.
In a representation to the State Chief Minister, the Sumi Hoho lauded the State machineries and all frontline workers for the unceasing effort to contain spread of COVID-19 in the State. However, it observed that COVID-19 positive cases and casualties are surging day by day and “we cannot deny the fact that community spread is endangering the lives of the entire state.”
The SH urged the Government to immediately impose complete lockdown of the State in the larger interest and safety of the citizens of Nagaland.
KVC seeks total lockdown in Kohima
The Kohima Village Council (KVC) has appealed to the DC, Kohima, who is also the Convenor of the District Task Force, to declare ‘total lockdown’ in Kohima to save valuable life.
In a letter of the DC, Kohima, proposing ‘immediate total lockdown’ in Kohima and Dimapur due to surge of COVID-19 cases, the KVC said the increase of COVID positive cases in the State, especially at Kohima and Dimapur, is alarming. “We also feel that immense community spread is happening, and random testing is proving us that, instead of the disease being contained, it is alarmingly increasing day by day.”
“Hence, in this regard, the KVC is of the opinion that to break the chain of the spread of this disease, the best remedy at this juncture is to go for immediate ‘Total lockdown’ and confine the citizens to safety,” it said.
