Speaking on the occasion the peace activist, Patrick W. Tungoe said that mediation and dialogue are the most effective and cheapest tools for preventing and resolving conflict and societal transformation. He elucidated that the youths can play a major role in peace building process by intervening in a conflict situation as a third neutral party and resolving the issues between the conflicting parties by themselves through dialogue and mediation.
He also added that Dialogue can defuse tension and keep the conflict situation from escalating and promote reconciliation in the aftermath of conflict. Later he stressed on the skills needed for peace building.
The session ended with a role play on dialogue process for peace building where the students resolve conflict between the conflicting parties by their own by intervening in the conflict as a mediator and a third neutral party.
He also encouraged the students to practice and promote peace in their own family, peer groups and institution through dialogue and mediation to promote long term stability and justice. (Page News Service)
