Students should help take cleanliness to homes and society: Kevileno

Kohima, September 17: Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, Kevileno Angami today called upon students to help in carrying forward the message of cleanliness and environmental protection to their homes and the society.
She said that various departments and organizations have been conducting different programmes on cleanliness, hygiene and environment but just observation of the day is not enough unless we make it a habit.
She was speaking during the prize distribution programme of Swachhta Pakhwada 2019 conducted by Samagra in the conference hall of Directorate of School Education here.
Kevileno said in order to carry forward the message of cleanliness and environmental protection everyone, especially students have to make it a habit not to litter their surroundings and also stop use of single use plastics. She also stressed on the need to educate the elders to stopping cutting of trees by explaining to them the harmful effects.
Delivering the keynote address, School Education Director, Wonthungo Tsopoe said in order to lead a healthy life cleanliness is a must and is everybody’s concern.
He said that in line with the Ministry of Human Resource Development guidelines, schools and educational institutions have to conduct Swachhata Pakawada and also conduct talks on Swachhata (cleanliness) during the morning assembly.
School should also create awareness among school children about recyclable and non-recyclable waste, he said adding that every school has to maintain dustbin and segregate waste. He also said that they should also planting trees in and around the schools. Chairperson of Nagaland Board of School Education, Asano Sekhose gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
Altogether 31 students from 12 schools from five Educational Block Research Centre of Kohima district participated in Letter to Bapu, Essay and Painting competitions.

1st – Menoseno of St John Bosco School Khonoma, 2nd – Neivotono of GMS Pfuchama Upper & 3rd – Nokdensang of GHS New Market
Letter to Bapu (Class 6-12)
1st – Shemhalü of GMS New Ministers’ Hill, 2nd – Kekuoseü Kiewhuo of Don Bosco School Chiephobozou, & 3rd – Notsonu Yiene, Loyola HSS Jakhama.
Essay Writing on the topic “Plastic waste free India:
1st – Thejavino Sophi of St John Bosco Khonoma, Hill, 2nd – kevise Tase of Loyola HSS Jakhama & 3rd – Keneiphruonuo of DSon Bosco School, Chiephobozou.
Painting on the topic “Cleanliness”
