Student organizations condemn May 6 assault on minor

Nagaland News

Dimapur, May 13: The Khiamniungan Students’ Union Dimapur has strongly condemned the assault on Alex Lotsangkhyong, a minor, son of John Tsulise Sangtam by some members of CVYS on May 6.

Terming as unacceptable the assault on a minor, the KSUD also called upon all to condemn the act. It also wished the people to do away with prideful thinking and egoistic approach of claiming the land of Naga’s as their own and taking law into their own hands.
“…the union is greatly dismayed by the sudden turn of events from the CVYS after coming up with a justifying statement despite their loopholes and thereby seeking a mere apology which is highly undesirable and unsatisfactory,” it said.
The union further appealed to the concerned authority to take stern action against those culprits. It also prayed for the speedy recovery of the victim.
KSUD: The Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur(KSUD) has condemned the unwarranted attacked on a minor, Lotsangkhyong Alex, son of John Tsulise Sangtam on May 6 night by some members of Chumoukedima Village Youth Society despite of their father pleading for mercy.
The union also condemned the violation of SOPs issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur and “the fact that CVYS failed to remember that Chumoukedima village falls under the purview of administrative jurisdiction of Dimapur district and exercising the power at their disposal.”
The union further condemned the undertaking/statement produced before the three and the application of forceful means to sign the statement on the same night, which it said is not acceptable at any cost.

The union called upon various organization, intellectuals, and concerned citizens to condemn the incident and urged the law-making authority to look into the matter and justice be served in accordance with the relevant laws.
