Dimapur, June 5: The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) has strongly condemned the repeated negligence and violation of the laid down rules by the Government in sending COVID-19 positive patients to districts, and urged the Government to be more sensitive and cautious in dealing and handling with the situation for public safety to contain the pandemic.
Expressing pain at the serious violation of SOP by sending a COVID-19 positive returnees to Peren district just after the same mistake was committed by sending returnees to Tuensang before the test results were out, the NIPF reminded that it is clearly mentioned in the latest revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for returnees to Nagaland that all returnees from Chennai on May 22 will continue to remain in the quarantine center until the Covid-19 test are done on all such person, and those who test positive but do not require hospitalization and are fit to travel will be sent under special transportation after following all the necessary health protocols.
“However, all these points of the SOP has been violated once again, after Tuensang, with the sending of a Covid-19 positive patient along with others to Peren District. With the rise of Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland among the returnees, sending them to their respective districts without knowing the status of the test results, in total violation of the SOP has endangered the lives of the populace and may soon take us to the stage of community transmission leading to wild spread of the disease. This repeated violation of the SOP followed by clarification(s) needs to be immediately stopped for once and for all,” it said.
