Dimapur, January 6: The silver jubilee of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Doyang at Doyang under Wokha District was celebrated today with Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton as special guest.
“Doyang is a significant place in Nagaland because of its hydro electric project and its scenic beauty,” Y. Patton said in his address.
Patton said that 25 years is a long time and he considered jubilee as a blessing so we need to praise and thank our almighty God for His wonderful grace. He said jubilee is also a time to receive and seek blessings from God. He expressed hope and prayed that the glorious celebration will bring more plentiful blessings to St. Thomas Catholic Church in particular and people of Doyang as a whole.
Patton also urged upon the people to abstain from indulging and using intoxicating substances as it brings more problem and chaos in the society. He exhorted the student community not to be complacent in their studies but to inculcate work culture and concentrate more on their duties with full dedication in order to excel in life.
He wished the St. Thomas Catholic Church Doyang to bring more blessings through the silver jubilee celebration.
Earlier, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland, dedicated the jubilee monolith at St. Thomas Catholic Church Doyang, which was also unveiled by the Deputy Chief Minister. (Page News Service)
