Dimapur, July 13: The State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Police have started inquiry into the reported alleged backdoor appointment vis-à-vis false RTI disclosures by the State Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection Department.
According to the People for Democratic Rights (PDR) that raised the irregularities in the LMCP issue, it has received an email response from the LMCP Department stating that the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Police have started inquiry into the matter.
The LMCP Department in the letter to PDR said “the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police, Nagaland, Kohima has started enquiry into the matter.” “Therefore, we are unable to publish the clarification in the media at this state.”
Appreciating the Vigilance Commission for taking cognizance of irregularities highlighted by PDR, the PDR appealed to the Vigilance Commission to fairly inquire into the matter. “It is pertinent to recall that the LMCP Department was the first public department under the Government of Nagaland to be penalised by the Nagaland State Information Commission Office (NSIC) for not replying to RTI sincerely. Vigilance Commission may kindly authenticate it from the State Information Office,” it said. (Page News Service)
