State to observe Sadbhavana Diwas


Dimapur, August 16: Nagaland along with the rest of the country shall be observing the birth anniversary of Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi as ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ on August 20. The theme of Sadbhavana is to promote national integration and communal harmony among people of all religions, languages and regions. The idea behind observance of ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ is to eschew violence and to promote goodwill among the people.
In this regard, State Chief Secretary has given directions to all concerned departments to organize an appropriate function in their respective offices and administer the pledge. All departments have been directed to issue instructions to all subordinate offices under their respective jurisdictions to observe the ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ on August 20.
The full text of the pledge to be administered is: “I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence.”
