Dimapur, August 19: Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland will observe the birth anniversary of Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi as ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ on August 20, at 11 am in the Secretariat conference hall. The theme of Sadbhavana is to promote national integration and communal harmony among people of all religions, languages and regions.
The idea behind observance of ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ is to eschew violence and to promote goodwill among the people.
Chief Secretary Nagaland, Temjen Toy has requested all officers and staff of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat to take part in the function. He also requested all concerned departments to organize appropriate function in their respective offices and administer the pledge.
The full text of the pledge to be administered is: “I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence.”
All departments have been requested to issue instructions to all subordinate offices under their respective jurisdictions to observe the ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ on August 20.
