
Dimapur, November 22: Nagaland Taekwondo team will be participating in the Indo-Nepal International taekwondo championship scheduled on November 27&28 at Delhi. Altogether 20 boys from Taekwondo Sports Academy will participate in the championship in different categories of pewee, sub-junior, cadet, junior and senior.
The team will be leaving for Delhi on November 23 to participate in the championship.
Team coach Visabiu Peseyie said owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, they couldn’t take part in any championship from last year till date. However, with more relaxation, the academy is now able to participate.
The coach acknowledged DYRS Director, Akumla Chuba for allowing Taekwondo Sports Academy, IG Stadium to represent the State at the international taekwondo championship.
Informing that some of the players have already won medals at National school games, sub-junior and junior National taekwondo championship, he said intensive training has been conducted for weeks and was hopeful that his students can performed better and win more medals for the State in the championship.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland have extended their best wishes and success to the team that will be representing the state.
The team is led by Visabiu Peseyie, State Taekwondo Coach, Department of Youth Resources and Sports and Keneingulie Khezhie as team manager.
