State team bags 5 medals at nat’l traditional wrestling c’ship

Kohima, January 8: Under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and under the sponsorship of the SSA Nagaland, 11 wrestlers along with 3 officials participated in the 64th National Traditional Wrestling (Belt Wrestling) Championship 2018-19 (SGFI) at Belagavi, Karnataka.
Nagaland team won 3 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze while Bongtang Phom was awarded the best wrestlers of the championship.
The medal winners are: Bongtang Phom (50 kg) of Ruzhukhrie GHSS (Gold); Veshebalu Nienu (45 kg) of Ruzhukhrie GHSS (Gold); Haizuyile (50 kg) of GMS Meriema (Gold); Mhaphrovituo Rhatsu (60kg) of Ruzhukhrie GHSS (Silver) and Kuthovezo Medeo (65 kg) of Baptist High (Bronze).
The Nagaland team will reach the State on January 12, informed a release issued by NWA general secretary Vekhozo.
