Dimapur, March 6: The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare held a State Task Force meeting to review National Immunization Day under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, I. Himato Zhimomi in the conference hall, office of the Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland.
Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru stated that the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization could not be held in February due to technical problem thereby it has been postponed to March 10, 2019. He urged all the departments including the officials of Health & Family Welfare to actively participate in the exercise of the programme.
SIO, UIP, Dr. Ritu Thurr while presenting state performance and preparedness of IPPI mentioned that the state has 2244 booths in total for IPPI. He stated that the head count exercise is carried out by the departments of School Education and Social Welfare where school teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers actively involved.
SMO, WHO, Dr. Shiela Longkumer while delivering a powerpoint presentation reviewed the last NID (IPPI). She mentioned about the situation of polio eradication in India where India has achieved major milestones. In 2011, last polio case due to WPV was reported, in 2012, India was removed from the list of polio endemic countries and in 2014, India received polio-free certification.
