State seeks Rs 30 cr package to promote coffee plantation

Dimapur, April 28: Minister for Transport and Civil aviation, Railways, Land Resources P Paiwang Konyak called on the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan New Delhi.
During the meeting Paiwang requested the Union Minister for one time special package of Rs 30 crore for development of coffee in the State in 3 years (at the rate of Rs 10 cr per year) for setting up of nurseries, maintenance of plantation to wean away farmers from jhuming, establishment of infrastructure such as construction of water harvesting structures, training and exposure visits.
The Union Minister agreed to the proposal and assured him for sanctioning the package in the current financial year to promote coffee plantation in the State, informed a release issued by Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi.
