State seeks Centre’s assistance for 100% water supply coverage

Dimapur, June 11: Nagaland PHED Minister, N. Jacob Zhimomi Tuesday sought assistance from the Centre to make the State fully covered with water supply connectivity by 2024.
Speaking at a meeting of State ministers on water conservation, rural drinking water supply and Swachh Bharat Mission (GRAMEEN) convened by Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at Vidyan Bhawan in New Delhi today, Jacob Zhimomi informed that Nagaland has 2000 habitations across rural population, out of which only 48.76% of water supply connectivity had been covered, and 51.3% remains partially covered. He requested the union minister to assist the State in making the state fully covered by 2024.
The union minister agreed to take up Jacob Zhimomi’s request in earnest, said a press release issued by Kuolie Mere, PRO, IPR, Nagaland House, Delhi.
Jacob Zhimomi also congratulated the Union Minister on behalf of Chief Minister and the Government of Nagaland and gave assurance to work together under his leadership.
The union minister interacted with the State Ministers of PHED and reviewed the conservation of water resources in the states and the action plan for immediate future to conserve water resources in the states.
