State level MCMC constituted

Dimapur, October 2: In view of the announcement of schedule of bye-election to fill casual vacancy in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 58-Shamator-Chessore (ST) Assembly Constituency, CEO Nagaland has informed that the State Level Appellate Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) has been constituted, with Chairman – V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland; Members – One Observer appointed by the ECI; Z Tokishe Sema, Director, Information & Public Relations; K. Sonikumar Singh, Assistant Director, PIB Kohima; Alice Yhoshu, Journalist & President of Kohima Press Club and member secretary – Ruokuovituo Khezhie, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.


The State Level Appellate MCMC shall decide appeal from both District and Addl. CEO Committees on certification of advertisement as per the Commission order No.509/75/2004/JS-I Dated I5lh April 2004 and examine all cases of paid news on appeal against the decision of District MCMC or cases taken up suo motu, in which case it shall direct the concerned ROs to issue notices to the candidates.
Police personnel designated
Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland has informed that the Government of Nagaland has designated all officers and ranks of Nagaland Police from Director General/ Additional Director General/ DIG/ Commissioner of Police under whose jurisdiction the assembly constituencies going for bye election fall, and all police officers below them, including Home Guard, Village Guard as election related officials for the purpose of Section 28A of the Representation of People Act 1951, with effect from the date of Notification for election till the completion of the Bye Election to 58-Shamator-Chessore (ST) Assembly Constituency.


The police official as stated above who are involved in any way in election related arrangement and perform duties in connection with the conduct of the Bye Election to 58-Shamator- Chessore (ST) Assembly Constituency are by law, Officers of Election Commission, being deemed to be on deputation to it, and are subject to its control, superintendence and discipline and as such are answerable to the Election Commission for any acts of commission or omission on their part while performing any election related duties, notified the CEO.
