Dimapur, September 14: Reacting to the representation submitted to the Governor and Chief Minister by the Public Action Committee on collection at check gates by various departments and unions, Chief Secretary has informed all concerned and the general public that the Government has not authorized any collections except by those departments which are tasked to collect fees/royalty, the rates of which are approved and fixed.
The Chief Secretary said notified to all concerned and departments that the revenue collected should be as prescribed by the Government.
“Any department which has not been authorized to collect fees/royalty are not to make any collection and the Departments which are empowered to collect taxes such as forest royalty etc should levy the same as fixed by the Government,” he stated.
The Chief Secretary further said that any person/department found violating the same would be sternly dealt with as per the provision of law, adding any violation may be brought to the notice of the Government for taking appropriate action.
