State Government’s duty to control prices: NPCC

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22: Reacting to a news report wherein a local trader was found by the SIT of NSCN (IM) tampering the price tags of hardware goods, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today said such crimes are punishable under laid down rules and crimes, if any, should be reported to the district administration and police for justice as per the law.

In a press release, NPCC President, K Therie stated that issuing quit notice is also not acceptable. “Such act goes beyond the prescribed political negotiations and also against the freedom of citizens to reside and settle. District Administration should intervene immediately and ensure peace of mind”, he stated.
The NPCC president further stated that it is the State Government’s duty to control prices under the Essential Commodities Act and alleged that the Government has completely failed in controlling prices.
Stating that all multi-government illegal taxes are added on all items, the NPCC said ultimately the common people are the sufferers.
Asking the Nagaland State Government to intervene without any bias and enforce the law to ensure consumers are protected, the NPCC demanded for Independent Pricing Commission headed by HC Judge, in a Memorandum submitted to Governor, on July 16, 2021. (Page News Service)
