Dimapur, November 10: A State funeral was accorded to former minister and four time MLA, late K Yamakam, father of Advisor, SCERT, IPR and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung at his residence at Purana Bazaar on November 10. He passed away at a private hospital on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 89.
During the funeral services speeches were delivered on behalf of Government of Nagaland, NDPP, ENPO, colony, Western Yimchungru Hoho, Yimchungru Union, Dimapur and friends and colleagues.
Former Governor of Odisa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, Dr SC Jamir also spoke during the service and Advisor Toshi wungtung spoke on behalf of the family members.
SC Jamir described Lt. K Yamakam as a man of strong conviction and trustworthy friend and colleague who tirelessly worked for the upliftment of Tuensang area in particular.
Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio in his message described him as a simple and down to earth leader, a man of integrity and commitment, known for relentlessly raising the voice of the people he represented.
After the funeral service the mortal remains of the departed leader was airlifted to Shamator Town where he will be laid to rest after a funeral service on November 11.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio paid his tribute at the airport.
