
Dimapur, March 22: The Department of English, St. John College organised a Poetry Slam Competition on March 21 in celebration of the World Poetry Day.
A press release informed that the programme commenced with a note on ‘Poetry Day’ by Inakali Assumi, HoD and Assistant Professor of English.
“The competition was filled with an array of participants with their original poems. The participants delivered performances that were creative and the content of the poems, talked about relevant and significant themes of the present generation and the nature of life. The Poetry Slam was judged on a few criteria, namely composition, expression, body gesture, diction, creativity and authenticity”, it stated.
The winners of the competition were Ivuli Yeptho of History Department at second place and Ilisa Chishi of English Department at first place.
