SSAALWC demands payment of land compensation

Dimapur, June 11: The SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has demanded immediate payment of 2nd phase of compensation, while also directing all construction firm/company(s) to halt/cease ongoing work under the affected villages jurisdiction till the matter is resolved by the concerned department.
The affected villages under Sumi area/jurisdiction on Chakhabama-Zunheboto road under Phase-A of SARDP-NE includes Kilomi/M-6 & Khughutomi villages (under Pughoboto Sub-Division), Xuivi, Kilo Old, Satakha town, Zhekiye, Aghuyito town, Shoixe, Yemishe, Sukhalu, Sheyipu, Natha Zhimo & Zunheboto town.
Xuivi village, Satakha town, Sheyipu, Natha Zhimo & Zunheboto town are not included in the 2nd phase of compensation list.
The welfare committee, however, said it will not disrupt the ongoing work under those villages and towns that are not included in the 2nd phase as they were compensated in the 3rd phase.
In a statement, SSAALWC chairman Ghuvishe Zhimomi and member secretary Kakheto Zhimomi said the committee in support of All Nagaland SARDP Affected
Landowners Welfare Committee have been working on relentlessly for the last 7 years with the Department of National Highways, Kohima and the respective Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts for timely clearance of the 2nd phase of compensation without going to the press to avoid unnecessary speculations.
Leaving behind the issue of 2nd phase in disarray, SSAALWC said the NH Department and NHIDCL has gone for 5th phase of compensation, whereas 90% of the affected landowners (beneficiaries) are yet to receive compensation from 2nd phase alone under Sumi area.
“Hence, without payment of compensation and forcing the villages to allow the construction on our soil will not be in any way acceptable,” it stated.
The committee requested all VCCs to co-operate with the committee.
