Dimapur, February 23: SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has served an ultimatum to Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto to stop the ongoing SARDP-NE Road Project under Sumi jurisdiction.
In a representation and ultimatum to DC Zunheboto issued by Ghuvishe Zhimomi, Convenor SSAALWC and secretary, Kakheto Zhimo, the SSAALWC stated that the affected land owners have approached him on various occasions to halt the project work till the 2nd phase of damaged property compensation is being paid but of no avail and therefore the affected land owners have resolved/ reaffirmed again that no contractors/ firms would execute the contract work within the affected jurisdiction until the compensation is cleared.
The Committee said if any untoward incident occurs within the mentioned jurisdiction, the authority would be responsible and not the affected land owners.
It also asked whether the 2nd phase of compensation is under arbitration or not the case/issue has nothing to do with the land owners, it is the responsibility of government authorities to full fill their demands.
The Committees said the present Madhucon Construction company/firm has awarded the contract work by NHIDCL on the same project/highway/location (abandoned by Gayatri/Maytas) and not on any other different location/project, so the question of the administration to allow the Madhucon company to carry on their work without hindrance does not arise in totality. Therefore, it said the present contractor must halt the ongoing work and leave the site immediately.
Stating that they need overall development, the Committee said no NGOs/ security forces can command over their land forcefully for any developmental works/projects without addressing the genuine issues with the land owner as Nagas in general have their ownership rights that nobody can compromise it.
The Committee also said the landowners would file PIL if their demands are not met. (Page News Service)
