SSA teachers to go on  hunger strike from today

Kohima, June 11: Not accepting the State Government’s appeals to call off the ongoing third phase of agitation outside the Secretariat, the Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) 2010 & 2013 batch have decided to intensify its agitation by launching hunger strike from Tuesday.
NSSATA agitation committee Convenor Thejangulie Kirha and secretary Arenla Tzudir in a statement said, “With no response from the government even as the teachers are on the 4th day of their peaceful and democratic means of agitation, the aggrieved teachers have made a decision to strengthen their voice by furthering the ongoing stir”.
Pointing out that not only the students but more than 2500 families of the agitating teachers are also affected because of the problems faced by the teachers, they said that shouldering the responsibility of the cause on behalf of all the members of the association, a section of the members have volunteered to go on a hunger strike from tomorrow.
All the members have unanimously decided to continue the sit in protest till the government offers a positive response to the long pending demand, they said.
Meanwhile, NSSATA general secretary Vinoka Shohe confirmed that the NSSATA volunteers would be sitting on hunger strike from Tuesday morning against non-fulfillment of their demands by the State government. (Page News Service)
