Dimapur, January 31: Block Mission Management Unit, Mon under the aegis of Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission, Department of Rural Development organised ‘special financial inclusion mela’ at Konyak Union Hall on January 29.
Speaking on the occasion as special guest, SDO (C) Mon, Chumlamo Humtsoe stated that in Nagaland women are more empowered and most of the economic activity are carried out by women. More over women are taking an important role in decision making too, the SDO said.
Lamenting that Nagas are bad in saving money, he encouraged the people to know the value of money. He advised the gathering to avail whatever facilities are available under different schemes.
PO/DPM DRDA Mon, M Temjen Longchar said women empowerment is necessary for upliftment of socio-economic status in the district and with the coming of Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), which is seven years now, has lots of impact in the district. He also spoke on some of the objective of NSRLM like social mobilization, capacity building, financial inclusion and livelihood.
Manager, India Post Payments Bank, Mon, Nagaland, Sumit Banerjee spoke on IPPB which will be reaching the doorstep of every village. He elaborated on how to open the IPPB account and also shared on the insurance facilities available in postal department.
DPO, Social Welfare Department, Mon Khuppao Hengnya spoke on ‘declamation of social welfare schemes’. He shared on the schemes under social welfare like IGNOAPS, IGNWPS, Disabled Pension Schemes, ICDS, PMMVK and Poshan Abhiyaan.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Mon, Visa Khunuo Ndang spoke on Prandhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan (YMSYM).
Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mon, Dr. Limatula spoke on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
Earlier, the key note address was given by BDO cum BMM, RD Block, Mon. 280 Self Help Groups from 19 villages under Mon block registered for the mela.
Sechü-Zubza: A financial inclusion (FI) mela in commemoration of Republic Day 2020 under Zubza block was held on January 29 at Council Hall, Sechü-Zubza.
Delivering the keynote address on Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission Schemes (NSRLM), Kenivole Mejura, Assistant District, Program Manager (NSRLM) DMMU, Kohima stated that NSRLM was an elevation mission for the rural people across the country where the mission has been headed by the women with the benefits for the whole household which have been working under a framed work where professionals from the NHRM, community cadres, helping and assisting the communities in the villages and providing different services including, community convergence, financial inclusion and innovation such as market linkages and capacity building in promoting village level organisation where 10 or more SHGs come together to form village level organisation for financial institution.
