Dimapur, May 18: The special train from Chennai carrying stranded citizens of Nagaland is expected to reach Dimapur on May 22.
According to State Agriculture Production Commissioner who is also in-charge of Dimapur District for COVID-19 activities, Y Kikheto Sema the special train with 1464 stranded people will depart Chennai on May 19 evening.
A DIPR report said Kikheto was grateful that some churches/ communities are coming forward to host and welcome the returnees.
It may be mentioned that following the appeal from the Government/ district administration to the churches, the executive committee of Kuda Village Baptist Church ( KVBC) has resolved to house all the asymptomatic Angamis from Kuda Village, Nagarjan jurisdiction, returning from outside the State at its guest house within the church premises.
Sema met with the members of the KVBC today and expressed appreciation for the gesture in responding to the call of the pandemic. Further, Sema noted with gratitude that a sense of security has started to click in the minds of the people with the realization that the stranded returnees are none other than our own children/ brothers and sisters. He informed that the Government is getting more positive feedback as more communities/ churches are coming forward to help and cooperate with the government and district administration.
