KOHIMA, JUNE 11: Human life has always been riddled with tragedies and accidents. But what one chooses to do in times of misfortune may as well be the turning point for many lives for the better.
MONARAM App- A hassle-free mobile platform to access the MONARAM Personal Accident Plan for the ones registered with the healthcare package was launched at De Oriental Grant, Kohima on June 11.
A promotional video of the app from the dynamic line-up of Dreamz Unlimited was also screened at the venue. MonAram app is available for download on Google play store.
Narrating the backstory behind the healthcare package and the app, the Founder of SpeakGuru Foundation and the brain behind the MonAram Personal Accident Plan, Kenei Kuotsu said that it was in 2021 when Startup Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce and EduCentre School of Business conducted the first edition of Hackathon Nagaland where they invited people to submit ideas that can be used to help society in a larger context.
“The call appealed to me and I decided to do something in the healthcare segment. I wanted to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to our people. We submitted our idea and came out as a winner,” Kuotsu said.
However, before MonAram Started, the precursor to how this idea was conceived came from my late dad. He met with an accident in 2019 and succumbed to his injury.
“On the day of the accident, we managed to give him immediate medical attention and I think that made all the difference for him to be discharged from the ICU, return home, and have quality moments in his final days,” he said.
“Even one day with your loved ones is very precious, and getting immediate medical attention makes all the difference. So, I think this is what we at MONARAM are trying to achieve. We want to give immediate medical attention to people in need so that they can recover and spend their time with their loved ones,” Kuotsu added.
Kuotsu said that the plan has three benefits, the first one is the accidental treatment where Rs 5000 will be covered by the package. In the event of a dental accident, the health care policy will cover expenses up to Rs 2000, and in the event of accidental death, we will give Rs 50,000 to the nearest of kin. All these plans can be accessed by registering with the MonAram healthcare policy just for the price of Rs 500.
Once the app is downloaded, registered users will see the list of hospitals impaneled with MonAram, and they can avail themselves of the cashless treatment from the hospitals. This plan has to be renewed annually, he added.
In the past months, the brand ambassador of MonAram, Thejakielie Zuyie has been riding to most of the districts to promote the app, and to rope in clinics and hospitals into the plan so that MonAram clients can avail themselves of the treatment anywhere in Nagaland. So far, Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Wokha, and Zunheboto have been covered under the campaign, Kuotsu added.
He also added they are planning to expand to the neighbouring districts in the days to come.
SpeakGuru Foundation is also gearing up to launch a ‘Hospital Secure plan’, Kuotsu informed. This is another product under the MonAram Accidental Health Care Plan that will help a lot of people when they are admitted to a hospital.
The case may be for cancer, heart attack, kidney dialysis, and even childbirth delivery. Regardless of the disease and sickness, we are planning to cover Rs 20,000 of the hospital bills but we are yet to decide on the pricing for this plan, he added.
