SON win 7 medals in national games


Dimapur, August 8: Special Olympics Nagaland (SON) comprising of 29 members participated in the National Games under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports at Gandhinagar, Gujarat from July 5 to 9. Special athletes from districts of Kohima, Peren, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Wokha and Dimapur led by coach Imliwapang Jamir participated in the games.
The SON won seven medals in the competition of football and badminton. Gold medals were won by special athletes Aripong, Berimong, Aosanen Jamir, Joseph Jakha, Suchamo and Tumchobeni and silver medal by Kehesul Kin.
Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare JP Nadda and Nitinbhai Ratilal Patel, Deputy CM of Gujarat were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively in the opening function of National Games which also marked the celebration of the Special Olympics International Golden Jubilee.
