Dimapur, May 14: Social media aided Dimapur police in identification of a baby boy found at Khatihar Railway Station, Bihar along with an Avadh Assam train ticket originating from Dimapur. Police said process has been set in motion to bring the child safely from Bihar.
According to police, following information from Childline Dimapur on May 10 that a baby boy was found at Khatihar Railway Station, Bihar along with an Avadh Assam Train ticket originating from Dimapur, the Dimapur Police along with Childline Dimapur immediately started inquires and information was circulated at social medias; through posters at the official Facebook account, WhatsApp.
Police said through the prompt dissemination of the details and the timely circulation of the information by the general public in the various media platforms, police received a call from Kohima on May 11 from the family members of the child and the identification of the child was made.
Accordingly, process is on to bring the child safely from Bihar and further inquiries are being initiated to ascertain the facts of the case, police said.
Police suspects that the child was kidnapped for trafficking or for other ulterior motives.
Meanwhile Dimapur police has extended appreciation to the general public and various media platforms for their co-operation which led to the timely intervention and identification of the child.

Dimapur police on Monday apprehended one person while issuing information slips to business establishment at New Market area. He has been identified as Himato Yepthomi, a resident of Burma Camp, United North Block-A, Dimapur.
Police said an information slips issued by NSCN (K) finance department were recovered from his possession. Accordingly a case has been registered and the investigation is going on.
2 apprehended with arms
On May 13, the 41st Assam Rifle apprehended two persons, namely Zhovi Weo (45), a resident of Verouzuma village and Unit Gogoi (29), a resident of Verouzuma village for possessing one .22 pistol with magazine and one .22 caliber live round. A case has been registered at Chumukedima PS for further investigation.
2 held with IMFL
Again on May 13, Dimapur police conducted MVCP duty at 3rd Mile area and arrested one person namely Neili Kaibi (38) of Kaibi village, Senapati and recovered/seized eight cases of IMFL from his car (ML05H1272). A case has been registered at Diphupar PS for further investigation.
On May 13, Dimapur police conducted surprise check at Nagarjan area, Dimapur and arrested one person Abhishek Kumar (21) for selling illegal IMFL from a pan shop and recovered about three cases of IMFL.
In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station Dimaur for further investigation. (Page News Service)
