SM College suspends classes for a week after student tests COVID positive

Dimapur, April 25: After one of its students was tested positive for COVID-19 on April 24, Sakus Mission College (SMC) in Dimapur has suspended all classes for a week (from April 26 to May 1).


In a notification issued on Sunday, the Principal of SMC informed that the college office will be open for normal activities. All administrative staff were asked to adhere strictly to COVID-19 guidelines.
Retest/improvement test will be scheduled to April 30 (Friday) and May 1 (Saturday) and Honours retest on May 3 subject to modifications, it stated adding that strict SOPs and guidelines will be followed in the campus/exam halls.
“6th Sem (B) classroom will be disinfected and sealed as per the norms. All students, especially 6th Sem (B) are asked to take precautionary measures and follow all necessary guidelines. During the suspended days, subject teachers are given the discretion to whether go for online class depending on their course completion,” it informed.
Meanwhile, admissions to Class 12 will continue either online or through college counters since the office will remain open, it added.


SMC is the second college in two days to suspend classes temporarily. On April 24, Dimapur Government College had informed its students not to come to the college from Monday (April 26) after 4 of its girl hostellers were tested positive for COVID-19. (Page News Service)
