Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16: Annoyed by the slow pace of construction of four-lane highway under the supervision of the NHIDCL, the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) and the Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO) today said that the district administration of Dimapur and State government cannot pass the buck entirely to the contracting agency as they are also equally liable and responsible for the delay in work.
Both the organizations said upon inquiry, it was discovered that the construction company has huge deficit of seriousness and responsibility and until today, all the justifications given by them are either evasive or unreasonable.
In a press release issued by CYO president, Seyieneilhou Keyho and AYO president, Kekhrie Pfukha, the organizations said, “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to comprehend that if mud and rocks are cut from below, such recent occurrence of road slide avalanche types are inevitable.”
Stating that only a sizeable portion of land are given in the road expansion, the organizations said in the way of work, additionally double or triple size expansion of land is required from the stretch between Patkai Bridge and Kukidolong.
They also wondered whether any environmental impact assessment was made prior to the implementation of the work.
“Apparently, land acquisition was only an open-ended measure to activate the work which has hazardously created a total disaster putting human lives at risk, created massive environment destruction and inconvenienced the commuters on the vital lifeline of the State and beyond,” it stated.
They expressed apprehensions that once monsoon sets in, there would be difficult times if immediate proper measures are not put in place.
