SLAB meeting on June 7


Dimapur, June 3: Urban Development Department in a circular informed that the ‘Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016’ was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India and the State has constituted “State Level Advisory Board (SLAB)” for advising the Municipal Authorities for implementation of ‘SWM Rules, 2016’ under Urban Development Department, Government of Nagaland through a notification.
All States/UTs have to prepare a State Policy and Solid Waste Management Strategy for the State in consultation with stakeholders i.e. all members of SLAB.
The Supreme Court of India, in an order, has directed the Secretaries of Urban Development Department including Nagaland to be present in Court on next date of hearing i.e. 10.07.2018.
Accordingly, the 1st meeting of SLAB has been convened on June 7 at 11 a.m. under the Chairmanship of the Commissioner & Secretary, Urban Development in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Urban Development, Kohima to deliberate on the implementation of SWM Rules 2016.
All members of the SLAB including all Deputy Commissioners & Administrators, Municipal/Town Councils have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting positively. (Page News Service)
