Dimapur, September 22: The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) and Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) have appealed to NSCN (IM) and the 7 NNPGs to pave a way out and come forward for reconciliation in the interest of the Nagas in general and for the younger generation in particular.
The SKK and AKM held a consultative meeting on September 21 at SKK Hiyam, Zunheboto in regards to the pertinent issues that confront the Naga society.
The two bodies had a serious discussion about the ongoing Naga political issue between the Naga negotiator and the Government of India for an honourable, acceptable and an inclusive solution..
In a joint press state, ASSU president, Hutoshe Kits and AKM president, Nungdokyanger Ao lamented that the Naga national workers as well as the Naga civil societies are deeply engaged in differences in many fronts which perpetuate directly or indirectly in pursuance to the main objective of achieving the goal towards permanent solution.
The SKK and AKM urged upon the Government of India to genuinely assimilate the desired opinion of the general Naga public for attainment of lasting peace towards more than seven decades old protracted political issue rather than keeping the people in dilemma with assurances and promises without any breakthrough pragmatically.
The two bodies further viewed that the process of delimitation initiated by Government of India at this juncture is a wrong step, adding implementation of delimitation will have a severe impact on Naga solution.
The two bodies made it clear that the Naga political solution is the foremost and urgent demand by all Nagas, thus the Government of India should keep the delimitation on hold and settle the Naga political issue first. (Page News Service)
