Dimapur, November 30: A 6-day programme on Value Addition of Horticultural crops for Skill Training of Rural Youth is underway in Mon (STRY) under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension(SMAE) National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology(NMAET), which was inaugurated by Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aboi at Church conference hall, Mon village today.
Speaking at the programme, Humtsoe said that the participants were fortunate to be undergoing a programme on value addition, and encouraged them to learn sincerely and share it with families and friends. He also advised them to work diligently and sustain oneself.
The programme will cover post harvest management and preservation aspects of locally produced crops like King Chilly, Brinjal, Bitter Gourd, Radish, Pineapple, Banana, Tomato, and Tapioca. The Resource persons for the programme Linota Y Chophy, Assistant Technology Manager, ATMA and Diezelhouno Chücha will also be conducting theoretical and Hands-On training on making Candies, Pickles, Jams, Jelly, Puree and Squash of various Horticutural Crops produced locally.
Earlier the inaugural programme was chaired by N Subenthung Odyuo, Dy. Project Director, ATMA, Mon and Vote of thanks was pronounced by Lonkhamse Tikhir, Computer Programmer, and benediction pronounced by Miss Diezielhouno Chücha. Altogether 26 youths are participating in the programme.
