SJU organizes 2nd edition of Estribos 2023

Dimapur, April 6: The Department of Civil Engineering, St. Joseph University organized the second edition of Estribos 2023, focused on improving the ability and creativity of the students on April 5.
The program started with invocation by Rev. Sr. Dr. Arockia Mary, a welcome address from Vikuobeituo Kelio followed by the presidential address delivered by Dr. D. Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor, SJU addressing on the journey of engineering, and civil engineering in particular, so far and importance of Engineers in developing the infrastructures and giving the society a sophisticated life.
He also stated that Engineers should have to take effort to protect the environment from the impact of their same creations.
A special song was presented by Imnatula. Er. Imliwati Jamir, Honorary Secretary, IEI Nagaland State Centre enlightened the students about the privileges of being a part of IEI (Institute of Engineers) including many technical activities. He also mentioned about prospects of quantity surveying valuation engineering, Environmental Impact Assessment, on which workshops and trainings are also provided by IEI. This was followed by Magazine release by the Vice Chancellor.
Guest of honour, Er. Beto T Jimo encouraged the students to enjoy college life by effectively managing life and mentioned that ultimate goal is the quest for knowledge. He also said a college life is a stage where the students feel like exploring their potential, trying new things, trying to figure out what they want to become in the future.
He also stressed on the importance of scheduling our priorities instead of prioritizing our schedules, mainly focusing on what may not be urgent but is important for one’s future. He also urged the students to work on balancing academic life and personal development.
Avino M Zhimomi delivered the Vote of Thanks and the program ended with the benediction from Fr. L. Anish. (Page News Service)
