Dimapur, November 14: In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic and strict orders from the Government banning use of fire cracker in Nagaland, this year’s Diwali was a “silent Diwali” but the Festival of Lights was observed in every Hindu home by lighting diyas and candles.
The Covid-19 pandemic has restricted celebration of all festivals where there is huge gathering as there are chances of spreading the virus. The recently observed Durga Puja in Dimapur was confined to only temples as no permission was granted for erecting pandals in various localities.
On Saturday, people from the Hindu community began the day cleaning their respective homes and decorating with lights and rangolis. The market was abuzz with people buying diyas, decorative lights and flowers to decorate their home, and also sweets for the celebration.
While the ‘silent Diwali’ went on peacefully, the most disappointed were children, who did not find any kind of crackers to burst. (Page News Service)
